Thandisizwe Jackson-Nisan
Thandisizwe Jackson-Nisan is a multirole young woman. She currently works as a Homeownership Advisor helping homeowners prevent foreclosure and renters improve their credit and prepare to become borrowers and subsequent homeowners. She also teaches performance arts to young people, as Youth are her passion. In 3rd grade, she assisted in founding the non-profit, Umoja Academy, which she is still heavily involved in today. The organization is a youth driven leadership and mentoring program. Thandisizwe is an Artist by nature, her Spoken Word and Poetry are gifts she uses to raise others’ levels of consciousness. Thandisizwe follows the teachings of ancestors such as Maya Angelo who said, “Phenomenal woman, that’s me”.
She uses travel as a way to educate herself and believes that traveling is an eye opening experience. Thandisizwe’s journeys have taken her to several continents and across the USA. Her international travel began at age four (4),as the youngest International Women’s Conference Official Delegate and has included places such as Cuba, Jamaica, Great Britain and building houses in South Africa. Thandisizwe considers herself a bold ‘Queen’, recognizing that beauty comes from within. She is willing to take bold gestures and steps, striving for bold results.
Thandisizwe has aspired to be a business woman since age five (5) and is working toward expanding her business as a chef specializing in southern style desserts, with emphasis on Peach Cobbler and Banana Pudding Cake, thus considering her an entrepreneur.
‘I am NOT my hair; Empowerment through self-confidence and knowledge of self’, is the platform that she hopes will help motivate and inspire people of all creeds to wake up to their worth. If they are already aware of their light, she hopes they’ll grow it simultaneously while encompassing the shining light of their peers for a brighter tomorrow. Ms. Jackson-Nisan professes to be ever evolving and a works in progress.
