Brendan Brophy
Brendan Brophy is a poet living in Minneapolis, and the Youth Chair on the executive board of the League of Minnesota Poets. His work has been featured through various institutions such as (but not limited to) Anoka Ramsey Community College, St. Kate's University, the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and Augsburg University.
The vast majority of Brendan’s work has been filtered heavily through themes of: Confessionalism, Existentialism, Nihilism, Absurdism, and probably a few other “isms” that don’t really matter (a little bit of philosophy humor for you there, folks). His preferred topics for exploring said themes include: coping with grief & loss, growing through pain & tragedy, and the intimate struggles of efficaciously maintaining one’s mental health.
Brendan says that: “Poetry is the closest things to magic that we have in this world, in that it has the ability to take the truly vexing trials we face in life, and mold them into something beautiful, sustaining, and life-affirming."
